Pom Poms, Tassels and Beads!

Today, I stopped by my workroom to see how the “roadside chair” was doing.  That is what my client and I are affectionately calling the chair that she found on the side of the road in Oakland.  It has its swag on, I mean primer on, but soon the Refinisher will be spraying a conversion lacquer on it in Sherwin William’s Alabaster. The number is SW7008 and it will be in a Pearl Finish.  It is a lovely warm white color.

Once the paint dries and hardens, it will be transported to my upholsterer where the fabric awaits its arrival.  The client selected a Clarke & Clarke cotton velvet fabric called Majestic Velvet, color Teal from the Duralee Showroom.  It will get new webbing and a foam wrapped cushion for the seat. Here is the scary chair in its “before” picture.

After I stopped by my Refinishers, I headed to the San Francisco Design Center.  The client and I decided to add trim to the bolster pillow that will grace this chair.  For the bolster pillow, we are going to use my favorite Schumacher fabric.  For about a year now, I have just been dying to use it on a project! Finally, the perfect opportunity!!  This fabric was designed by Alessandra Branca and is a fabulous silhouette toile in a very unusual blue/red combination.  Its number is 175482 and its name is Coromandel, color Prussian Blue/Rogue.

Because this fabric screams for trim, I headed to Sloan Miyasato who reps Houles.  Houles is based in Paris and definitely without a doubt, my go-to for trim.  A very luxurious stripe by The Romo Group from their Black Edition and a playful floral by Villa Nova will also be introduced into the room via the sofa pillows.  The stripe is 7561/01 from the Xanthina Collection, Zella Teaberry.  The floral is V3101/02 from the Elodie Collection, Elodie Carmine Washable.

Tomorrow we’ll be selecting pom poms, tassels or maybe these little Houle beads.  I wonder which ones will sweetly talk to the client so this pillow can get its swag on… I mean trim on…

KonMari Party!

I just had a KonMari Party in my closet and I am only using purses that I love, now!!

I am in-process of doing some tidying at my home and office.  I’ve been contacting old clients about getting rid of their binders, receipts, cuttings, etc.  Also, I wanted to find out if they wanted their fabrics that I have now been storing for up to thirteen years! Yowsers!   At about the same time, my kid’s school was having a book fair and there sitting on the stage in the auditorium for sale was… “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up – the Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” by Marie Kondo!   I thought to myself, I wonder what an expert might have to offer me as I move through this tidying process.

Let me tell you, it’s a “KonMari” Party at my house right now! Before KonMari of Purses

After KonMari of Purses

So, what happened here… those are the same 4 hooks in my closet, but they are holding a lot less purses and I can’t help but smile through this whole experience!

1) I said goodbye to the black bag that was my Grandma’s – that eek had mold on it!  She doesn’t really want me to hold on to this bag of hers… in her memory!!

2) I said thank you to the purple Kate Spade for carrying my things and to Deborah who gave me this purse and then I sent it to Virginia’s home who is having a Eastern Star Rummage Sale on June 6, 2015 at her home in San Leandro!  If you want it, the sale will be on Bancroft Avenue between Callan and Dutton Avenues.

3) I said thank you to the white Nine & Co. purse and to the Black Nine West purse for carrying my things.  I sent them to Virginia’s house, also.

4) I said thank you to the Red Louis Vuitton Bag that I purchased with my “X” on a very memorable and fabulous trip to Hong Kong.  And, I gave it to Virginia for the sale.

5) So that I know which purse is inside each bag, I hung the handles outside in KonMari style.  I put up to two purses inside each purse.  I am now left with only the bags that bring me joy!

Smile!  I went from 18 purses to 13 purses, but only 6 are visible… Nicely done, don’t you think!?  And, don’t you just love that blue by Michael Kors!

Party on KonMari!  Really, I cannot adequately describe how emotionally satisfying this approach is to tidying on the soul, mind and spirit!!  And, I personally cannot wait to tackle my next space… I will keep you posted as things progress.  If you wish for Leeza Designs to help you KonMari your space, please reach out to me at 415-244-2040 to discuss your project.

Flower Power!

I am in love with the retro whimsical feel of the flower patterns that I am seeing around these days…

Villa Romo Fabric Elodie Carmine V3101/02

This Villa Romo Fabric in PINK is from De Sousa Hughes at the San Francisco Design Center. The manufacturer Villa Romo, recently changed it’s USA name to match the rest of the world. It’s now Villa Nova. It’s color name is Elodie Carmine number V3101/02.  This design takes it’s cue from a “lady’s purse” flower.  This fabric will soon grace a few pillows in a client’s Oakland Victorian home.  It was recently added to the mix when the fabric we selected had been discontinued… so, so, so pleased that I love it even more than our original choice!!!  Whew!  Hate it when that happens, but fabric does occasional become discontinued….

Tea Towel with Floral Pattern from Cost Plus World Market This is my kitchen towel.  LOVE IT!  It’s in my mid-century modern home.  My kitchen has grey walls and I love the pop of ORANGE against the grey walls.  You too can have this fabulous turquoise and red floral towel… It’s from Cost Plus World Market and so reasonably priced!  I purchased it several years ago, but it’s still available as I saw it last week when I was shopping for a garbage can for a client’s bathroom!

Floral Pattern on Paper in Turquoise, Red, Pink and GreenLove this PINK AND TURQUOISE paper!  I am thinking about painting the back side of my front door using this paper as my inspiration!  It was wrapped around a present given to me for my birthday by an artist friend of mine…

Floral Pattern on Garbage Can at Cost Plus World MarketThis is a floral pattern that now graces a garbage can that can be purchased at Cost Plus World Market!  Love the blend of ORANGES, TURQUOISE, RED and hint of PURPLE.   This is soon to be presented as an option in a client’s home.  We will see if it makes the cut for their bathroom?!

Are flowers in your future???
