I recently finished up a fun, little project in Alameda, CA. The client owns one of those fabulous Mediterraneans in the heart of the city. Here is what the bathroom looked liked prior to My Big Save – the wallpaper had pussy willows on it and the sheer drape in front of the tub and window, well let’s just say… I think this look is a little bit quiet.
The tile is to die for… if you love the retro mix of turquoise and pink!
Little did I realize what a challenge this task was going to become for me. Even with access to all the showrooms at the San Francisco Design Center, it was not an easy task to find a new fabric and wallpaper to update their retro pink bathroom. For starters there are not many fabrics out there that pair turquoise and pink. And, then we had to find the right look and feel. This client was looking for something that was romantic, dainty and pretty. There were other directions that this bathroom could have gone with this color palette – beachy or funky… using a chevron stripe or ikat, but these were not a good fit with the client’s own personal style. Here is a peak at the selection that the client decided to go with from Sloan Miyasato: Thibaut wallpaper T2841, Houles trim 33278-9740 and from Fabricut: 38211-01.
Drum Roll, please…. Here’s the end result!
Long Live the Retro Pink Bathroom!
